Sophie Evans Born and raised in the Rhondda Valley, Sophie attends Tonypandy Community College as a sixth form student. Through her school, she has appeared in numerous plays and musicals, and featured in a Joshua Foundation Show at the Millennium Centre, Sophie was also a member of the Mid-Rhondda Operatic Society while in her early teens performing in many shows such as; Annie, Oliver, Me and my Girl, Carousel, Fiddler on the roof, Sound of Music and more. She appeared on the 2008 series of ITV’s The X Factor, making it through to the Boot Camp stage.
In 2010 Sophie auditioned for Over the Rainbow, a show which was searching for a new actress/singer to play the role of Dorothy Gale in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new production of The Wizard of Oz. Sophie was named as one of the top 10 in the first live episode of the series, and eventually advanced to the grand final along with Danielle Hope and Lauren Samuels in May 2010, having been in the bottom two just once during the competition, the least of the final 3 contestants. Sophie was announced in second place in the grand final. She will features on the charity single, singing a The Wizard of Oz Medley now available for download.
Sarah Lark most recently appeared in Oliver! at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Covering and playing the role of Nancy. Prior to this she appeared every Saturday and Sunday night as finalist on I’d Do Anything BBC1’s Search for Nancy. Previously Sarah appeared in Mamma Mia covering and playing the parts of Lisa and Sophie at The Prince of Wales Theatre. She made her West End debut at the age of 17 playing the Little Girl in the original London cast of The Witches of Eastwick at The Theatre Royal Drury Lane. She can be heard on the cast recording and appeared in the documentary on the making of the show.
At the age of 21 Sarah was one of the youngest ever students to complete the postgraduate musical theatre course at The Royal Academy of Music where she graduated with distinction. During her studies she was awarded the Diploma of the Royal Academy for an outstanding public performance for her portrayal of the madcap witch Addapearle in The Wiz.
Professional theatrical credits include Lucy Van Pelt in the West End production of Snoopy the Musical both at Jermyn Street and at The New Players Theatre, Scottie Fitzgerald in Beautiful and Damned at The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford and Miss Dixon in the workshop production of Time’s Up at The Shaftesbury Theatre.
Previous roles have included the title role in Annie, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Mary Pickford in The Biograph Girl, Maisie in The Boyfriend, Hermia in A Midsummer Nights Dream, Lydia in Pride and Prejudice and the title role in Peter Pan.
Sarah appeared in the original production of Whistle down the Wind at Lord Lloyd Webbers Sydmonton estate.
Television credits include I’d Do Anything, Just Up Your Street, The Healer and The Biz for the BBC and Barrymore and The X Factor (Mamma Mia) for ITV.
Mark Evans was born in Carmarthen and studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and National Opera Studio. He has worked as a soloist with Scottish Opera, British Youth Opera, English Touring Opera, English National Opera, Opera North ,WNO and MTW. Mark appears regularly in concerts and oratorios throughout the UK and his repertoire ranges from Bach to Britten. He has also worked with many leading orchestras including RTE, RPO and the LSO.
His work abroad has included the prestigious opera gala to re-open the Madeira Opera House with National Orchestra of Portugal; a tour of America with Columbia Artistes singing the role of Papageno The Magic Flute; and again at Cascais Festival, Portugal in 2006; appearances at the Celtic Festival in Brittany; series of concerts in New York following 9/11 on behalf of the British Government and performances as part of the UKin NY festival.
Operatic roles include the title role in Don Giovanni for Holland Park Festival Opera with the RPO; Marcello La bohme and Papageno for WNO; Sir Nicolas Fairles The Blackened Man (world premiere) by Will Todd at ROH Linbury Theatre; and the baritone role in ENOs For the Public Good, specially commissioned to mark the centenary of the Coliseum.
Recently Mark created the role of Jack for the world premiere of Music Theatre Waless 2006 production of House of the Gods. Last season, Mark worked at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, performing the lead role in their childrens Christmas opera and ballet spectacular, Wind in the Willows. Most recently, engagements have included a return to Welsh National Opera as Marcello for their Hong Kong tour of La Boheme. He is currently performing in a national tour of Opera Galas and presenting a Classical music programme on Sunday evenings for BBC Radio Wales through the month of August.
